Mott MacDonald’s global reputation as the leading consulting
company in the energy sector is based on over 100 years of
experience in all aspects of electricity generation and
distribution. In recent years we have progressed innovative
technologies which include waste-to-energy and desalination plants,
as well as renewable forms of energy production. We offer an
in-depth understanding of planning, project finance, financial and
economic modelling, independent energy agreement structures,
tariffs and planning consents, and can provide project management
and engineering support. An example of where we have added value to
a energy project is the Jorf Lasfar Private Power Station project
in Morocco.
Mott MacDonald was appointed technical advisor to the
banks financing the US$1.5 billion Jorf Lasfar Private Power
Station project. The 1320 MW power station is one of the world’s
largest privately-owned coal fired plants. Our role was to
undertake the technical, environmental and commercial due diligence
reviews. After financial close we were the independent certifier
who monitored construction of the new units and operation of the
existing plant.
